Momma and Me

This artwork is my rendition of a treasured childhood memory - curled up and asleep with my mom as we listened to a thunderstorm passing overhead. In the background, I wrote out a few lines from my favorite E. E. Cummings poem that used to hang over my childhood bed and holds a special place in my heart. This piece was created primarily with Prismacolor pencils on black mixed media paper. It was a challenge to work on dark-toned paper and switch my typical light-to-dark workflow, but I learned a lot during the process of creating this and am so happy with how it turned out.
